How To Find Health Insurance With A Free Phone Call

When people are asked why they want medical insurance, the most frequent answer is that they know they can't afford to pay for an expensive medical issue. A broken arm can be too expensive for most individuals, and any type of major medical episode, or surgery, would be way above their financial means to pay. However, when you are looking for Miami health insurance, here are a few questions to ask when you make the free phone call.

Deductibles are the biggest factor in your being able to customize a plan that you can afford. Obviously, the higher the deductible you choose, the lower your premium will be. However, are you really saving money by choosing a lower deductible?

What kind of plan are you interested in purchasing? There are HMOs and PPOs. What does all of that mean, and how is it going to effect your out of pocket expense? Does "In Network" allow you to get the best medical care, or should you have a policy that offers "Out of Network" physicians.

Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) mean that most of your health care will have to be "In Network", and you will have to choose a Primary Care Physician (PCP). Your PCP will be the focal point of all your medical information about medications, procedures, surgeries and any other medically related involvement. If you have children, you can select a pediatrician for them. If you need a specialist, your PCP will have to refer you to someone, else you will have to pay more.

Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) don't require you to choose a PCP, and you don't need to have a referral to see some other doctor in the Network. However, if you go outside the 'network', you will still pay a higher amount and you will have to pay the doctor at the time of services, then file with your PPO to attempt reimbursement.

Your current medical information is going to be the critical factor in determining what types of coverage you can get, and how much it is going to cost. However, if you are relatively young and in good health, an HMO may be best for you. But, be sure of who the doctors and clinics are, and where they are located in case you have a car wreck and need physical therapy. "In Network" could mean having to drive a long way to get to the covered care.

A PPO plan can allow you to see the doctor you prefer, if they are in your covered network. Neither plan lets you go "Out of Network" without incurring additional expenses. However, a PPO plan may be better suited for a person who has known health issues, or is arriving at the age where such issues could start occurring.

When you are investigating Miami health insurance, you should ask as many questions as possible about exactly what is covered, and where. There is a lot more to selecting the best health care at an affordable price than meets the eye, and a simple free phone call could answer all of your questions.
